 Mobile System Trailer (Catalog #05000-007)
Contract: Pajarito Scientific Corporation, Los Alamos, NM; 9/95 - 12/95

Pajarito contracted with EMI to purchase a chassis and engineer and fabricate a 40-foot shelter to be used as an assay van. EMI divided the interior into a control room and an assay room. EMI furnished the control room with equipment racks/control console and office furniture, and power monitoring, breaker and feedthrough panels. In the assay room, a winch-operated fold-down door in the side of the van becomes a conveyer system, powered by electric motor, for transporting up to 2,000 lb. loads in and out of the van. Two Hoffman electronic control boxes were installed by EMI; electronics were installed by the customer.

 Global Positioning System (GPS) Vans (Catalog #05000-001)
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 5/93 - 10/95

Four 48-foot instrumentation vans for use at remote field locations were provided for WSMR. EMI procured dry freight vans and engineered and performed modifications on each van according to requirements. This included insulation, wiring and lighting, environmental conditioning and interior finish. Three rooms provide entry/storage area, a main work area with equipment racks and computer work stations, and a kitchen/storage area. Communications and safety equipment were installed. Optional features were roof platform with access ladder, telescoping pneumatic mast and compressor and camera mount platform.

 Instrumentation Test Van (ITV) (Catalog #05000-002)
Contract: Eglin Air Force Base, FL; 4/94 - 2/95

EMI purchased and modified two 53-foot dry freight vans to provide field deployable electro-optical data collection systems for Eglin. One van enhances the munitions evaluation capabilities of the Seeker Test Van, and the other expands the electro-optical target signature data collection capabilities of the Ground Electro-Optical Test System. The vans are partitioned into work, living, and storage areas and are furnished with equipment racks, work tables, storage and file cabinets, and kitchen equipment. All required wiring, lighting, PA system, environmental conditioning and safety equipment were installed by EMI.

 Laser Trailer and Modification of Tow Vehicle
(Catalog #05000-005)
Contract: Los Alamos National Labs, Los Alamos, NM; 1/94 - 4/94

EMI engineered and built a 32-foot tandem axle fifth wheel assembly trailer to be used for housing and transporting laser equipment. Interior ceiling and walls are finished with scrubbable FRP fiberglass reinforced polyester paneling; floor is seamless vinyl linoleum. Components for the AC and DC electrical systems, including a 75 KVA transformer, were customer-furnished and installed by EMI. EMI modified the customer's tow vehicle by removing the flatbed and installing an extra fuel tank and heavy duty towing package.

 Radiometric Imaging System (RIS) Van Mod
Contract: Optimetrics, Inc., Las Cruces, NM; 4/92 - 8/92

Optimetrics required modifications to an existing van. On the exterior EMI installed leveling jacks; rear double doors; side personnel door with step assembly; reinforced roof with collapsible safety rail; roof access ladder; and underneath storage compartments. On the interior, EMI performed electrical wiring; installed reinforced anchor strips for securing equipment, a workbench, and equipment racks; and installed carpeted tiles into the existing raised steel grid floor. EMI partitioned a separate room and purchased and installed kitchen equipment, battery charger, uninterruptable power supply, and 2000 lb. capacity lifting crane.

 Electronic Trailer Modification (ETM)
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 4/92 - 7/92

EMI refurbished and modified an existing GFE Electronics Trailer for White Sands. Modifications included installing interior/exterior wiring and lighting, patch panel, two 10 kW generators, cable storage reel, detachable slide-out porch assembly with handrails and rear stairway, equipment racks with work station, GFE ECU and associated ductwork, 1500 lb. capacity liftgate, quick-disconnect window covers, underside storage box and spare tire carrier. Refurbishment included servicing the landing gear and air brake system, foaming and undercoating the undercarriage, and painting the van exterior.

Command, Control and Communications (C3) Van
(Catalog #05000-003)
Contract: SAIC Technology Services Co., Albuquerque, NM; 4/91 - 9/91

EMI engineered and performed modifications to a 42-foot van to serve as a Command, Control, and Communications Van. Modifications include personnel, cargo, and equipment room doors, signal feed-through panels, exterior storage boxes, and hydraulic liftgate. Roof installations include access stairs and work deck with safety rails and fold-down antenna masts. On the interior, EMI installed a computer floor, carpeted walls, and suspended grid ceiling with fluorescent lighting. Furnishings include work and eating tables, computer work stations, overhead storage cabinets, equipment racks, refrigerator, microwave oven, and water cooler. A separate 5-foot utility room contains ECU, power distribution systems and power monitoring panel.

 Contractor Instrumentation Trailers (Catalog #05000-004)
Contract: COLSA, Inc., El Paso, TX; 7/90 - 8/90

EMI purchased six 48-foot freight vans for COLSA and converted them to field test instrumentation vans, housing rack-mounted electronic equipment. Walls are carpeted; floors are raised computer tile. The work area contains work benches, storage cabinets, equipment racks, safe, and computer system. Some vans were configured with a furnished conference area. Weatherproof signal entry panel, communications patch panel, cable reel, roof deck with access ladder and guard rails, and platform stair assembly were provided.

Office of the Test Directorate (OTD) Van Refurbishment
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 9/88 - 1/90

EMI refurbished three GFE 45-foot instrumentation vans which support OTD experiments, renovating the ECU, equipment racks and cabinets, as well as interior and exterior surfaces. EMI also reconfigured and re-cabled the video and communication control systems, fabricating, labeling, installing and testing the new cabling network.

 MIGOR Trailers (Catalog #05000-006)
Contract: Patrick AFB, FL; 12/88 - 12/89

EMI designed and fabricated two MIGOR trailers to support optical tracking missions at Cape Canaveral. EMI fabricated the system, which consisted of two 35-foot instrumentation vans. The vans are provided with ECU, dark rooms and storage cabinets, and electrical service. Walls are carpeted. Floors are vinyl linoleum. EMI made provisions on the trailer bed for a 12-foot diameter astrodome to be mounted to house a large optical tracker.

 Mobile Launch Van (MLV) (Catalog #05000-011)
Contract: Holloman AFB, NM; 10/88 - 9/89

Eglin AFB contracted with EMI to design and fabricate an instrumentation van to support the High Speed Test Track at Holloman AFB. EMI engineered and fabricated a 48-foot armor plated instrumentation van. The van is outfitted with ECU, 20 kw generator, equipment racks, storage cabinets, restroom and kitchen, and launch control system.

Instrumentation Van and Tow Vehicle (IV & Tow)
(Catalog #05000-008)
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 9/87 - 8/88

White Sands required an instrumentation van and tow vehicle to support mobile laser experiments. EMI purchased a 4-wheel-drive prime mover and engineered and fabricated a 40-foot instrumentation van. Interior surfaces were finished with acoustical ceiling tile, carpeted walls, and vinyl flooring. Flush mount unistrut channeling was installed for equipment tiedown. The van was furnished with ECU, equipment racks, storage cabinets, lift crane, and CNC precision two-axis rotary table to direct the laser beam experiments.
