Remote Instrumentation Control System (RICS) Van

Contract: White Sands Missile Range; 9/89 - 9/93
EMI contracted with WSMR to design, fabricate and interface remote instrumentation control skid vans to support the range's optical tracking capabilities. The 16-foot shelter systems include ECU, cable reels, slide-out equipment racks, cabinets, and communications patch panels. Two units mounted on EMI-built fifth wheel trailers with towable 15 kw generators, and one unit mounted on a GFE truck were built.

General Purpose Instrumentation Shelters (Catalog #04000-022)
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 4/94-10/94
WSMR contracted with EMI to design and completely fabricate 12-, 16- and 24-foot shelters to be mounted on customer-furnished trucks. The vehicles provide mobile instrumentation capabilities for DoD testing at remote WSMR, California and Alaska field sites. Air conditioning and heating system are configured for specific desert or polar environments. Shelters are furnished with equipment racks, storage units, uninterruptible power supply and cable reel. Telescoping pneumatic masts and compressor were provided when required.

Mobile Test Van (Catalog #04000-024)
Contract: Naval Weapons Center, Pt. Mugu, CA; 12/97-5/98
EMI procured a truck and engineered and fabricated a 16-ft. shelter. The shelter is air conditioned, insulated, undercoated, wired and lighted, and provided with phone jacks. Interior walls and ceiling are finished with carpet; floor is vinyl tile. Equipment tiedowns are flush mounted in walls and ceiling. Furnishings are equipment racks on slides, lateral file, refrigerator, fold-down work surface and operator chairs. Also provided are automatic leveling system, overhead and belly box storage, removable step assembly, roof deck with fold-down safety rails, 2,000 lb. capacity liftgate, 25 KW generator on slides, and telescoping antenna mast. Electronic equipment was installed by the customer.

Land Navigation Test Vehicle (Catalog #04000-023)
Contract: Holloman AFB, NM; 9/98-4/99
The LNT vehicle is used to evaluate positional accuracy of state-of-the-art aircraft navigation systems. EMI provided a truck and engineered and constructed a 12-ft. telemetry shelter. The shelter is air conditioned, insulated, wired and lighted, and finished on the interior with vinyl flooring and carpeted walls and ceiling. Divided cable raceway surrounds the ceiling perimeter. EMI installed GFE brown lines for attaching equipment, furnishings and equipment slides for GFE racks. EMI provided CB radio, five-station intercom, 35 KW generator on slides, 400 Hz frequency converter, slide-out entry steps, roof ladder, cable feedthroughs, and underneath storage boxes.
SLAD Cutaway Vehicle (Catalog #04000-025)
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 7/98-6/99
EMI purchased an RV Cutaway with 4-wheel drive option and engineered, constructed and attached a permanently mounted 16-ft. air conditioned shelter with passthrough. EMI insulated, wired and lighted the shelter and finished the interior with commercial carpeting on the walls and ceiling, and rubberized safety tread tile on the floor. EMI installed 6.5 KW generator, interior/exterior storage, kitchen equipment, equipment racks, computer workstation, work surface, operator seating, phone jacks, backup camera and safety equipment. GFE computer equipment and toolbox were also installed by EMI.
General Instrumentation Shelters and Trailers (GIST) (Catalog #04000-029)
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 4/05 through 4/10
This contract is similar to the previous GPIS and GPIV contracts. EMI refurbishes GFE shelters; designs, and fabricates 12-, 16- and 24-foot shelters to be mounted on GFE trucks. The vehicles are ordered on an optional basis over a five-year period and provide mobile instrumentation capabilities for DoD testing at WSMR and other sites. The shelters are constructed of 0.050 thick aluminum "C" panels. The roof is reinforced to 200 pounds psf with a diamond deck roof surface, and is provided with access ladder and safety rails. Interior walls are insulated and finished with carpeting over plywood. Ceilings are carpeted with surface mount lighting. Floors are rubberized tile over wood or raised computer floors. EMI provides and installs all electrical wiring and lighting, uninterruptable power supply and cable reel. Power is supplied by shore power or by diesel generators, some with separate trailers. ECU and heating system are configured for specific environments. Shelters are furnished with equipment racks, wooden storage cabinets, personnel chairs, chalk and bulletin boards, water cooler and fire extinguishers. Items such as telescoping pneumatic masts and compressor, kitchen equipment and GFE equipment installation are optional.
Boulder Van Conversion (Catalog #01000-005)
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 3/05-12/05
EMI received a GFE Van with 4-wheel drive option. EMI installed 6.5 KW generator, equipment racks, computer workstation, work surface, operator seating, phone jacks, backup camera and safety equipment. GFE computer equipment and toolbox were also installed by EMI.
