 Guidance Test Van (Avionics Test Van) (Catalog #4000-014)
Contract: Holloman AFB, NM; 8/92 - 6/93

EMI repaired, modified, and refurbished a GFE van chassis/body and motor which had suffered severe rust and water damage to all components. EMI completely stripped the interior of the van and rewired, remodeled and refurbished the interior. A missing roof section was supplied, and the entire exterior was repaired and repainted. EMI upgraded the fuel tank from 75 to 300 gallons and installed antenna plate and skylight on the roof. Also provided were driver compartment and workstation seating, equipment racks, and work stations. Other equipment included a 40-channel CB, intercom unit, safety equipment, 60-kw power generator, shielded AC/DC converter, and a super cooled test chamber. Engine repair and ECU were subcontracted.

 Seeker Control Van (Catalog #04000-016)
Contract: Eglin AFB, FL; 4/88 - 3/89

Eglin AFB contracted with EMI to design and fabricate one 32-foot Seeker Control Van which could be driven into a C-141 without disassembly. EMI performed the engineering and system integration at our facility.

 Las Cruces Police Department Van Refurbishment
For: City of Las Cruces, NM, 1999

As a service to the City of Las Cruces, EMI used city-furnished materials to refurbish an existing van for the police department to use as an emergency command vehicle. EMI stripped the interior to the studs and installed new AC and DC wiring, interior/exterior lighting, power receptacles and phone jacks. A new air conditioning unit and antennas are installed on the roof. Two awnings are installed on the exterior, one along each side. On the interior, the walls and ceiling are finished with carpeting over plywood, the floor with rubber safety tile. Furnishings include water cooler, laminate finish worktops with power strips and wood storage cabinets. A public address system is provided. All additional communications equipment was installed by the City.

 Mobile CER-EAGE Trailer (Catalog #04000-039)
Contract: Vandenberg AFB, CA; 4/03-2/04

EMI modified a 53-foot long dry freight van to serve as a mobile communications/electronic aerospace ground equipment trailer. The interior is divided into three areas: a front operator compartment with fold-down work surfaces, and provision for customer-installed EAGE racks; a central entrance vestibule; and a rear communications compartment with fold-down work surfaces, equipment racks on slides, and Hoffman boxes housing communications equipment. I/O panels provide access to the boxes from the exterior of the van. Rows of unistrut channel secure equipment. A personnel door with slide-out step assembly, and a 60-inch equipment door provide access. Belly storage boxes are installed underneath the van. Two air conditioning units provide 60,000 BTUs cooling and 6.75 KW heating each. The compressors are installed on the exterior under-belly, and a fan compartment is located in the vestibule. All electrical wiring and lighting are provided. A fire detection and alarm system and fire extinguishers are installed.
