 TIPS II Vehicle (Catalog #04000-019)
Contract: Eglin AFB, FL; 4/90 through 2/91

EMI designed and fabricated a mobile, self-contained 24-foot instrumentation vehicle to house and extend the operation of the Thermal Image Processing System II. The removable body is air transportable via a C-141 or C-5. The exterior is outfitted with a reinforced roof, permanent access ladder and 3" kick plate, with mounts for azimuth, elevation positioner, and satellite antenna. Tool storage unit, air conditioner/heater and 1500 lb. capacity hydraulic tailgate were installed. The interior is finished with carpeted walls, acoustical tile ceiling, and plenum floor to house instrumentation wiring. It is furnished with equipment racks, desk, computer work station, chairs, cabinets, film storage unit, reel storage rack, refrigerator and microwave oven.

 Vandenburg Trailer (Catalog #04000-020)
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 9/96 through 1/97

EMI provided Vandenburg AFB with a towable instrumentation trailer. EMI purchased a 16-foot Wells Cargo trailer and modified it according to contract specifications. The trailer was insulated, wiring and lighting system was installed, walls and ceiling were finished with carpeting over plywood, and floor was finished with vinyl tile. Work surface, cable raceway, safety equipment and stabilizing jacks were provided and installed. Provision was made for installation of customer furnished and installed equipment.

 Data Collection Vehicle (Catalog #04000-030)
White Sands Missile Range, NM; 7/00 - 4/01

Through an on-going contract at White Sands, EMI provided a data collection van to be used for remote operations by an off-site customer. EMI constructed and installed a 24-ft. shelter on a CFE vehicle, using aluminum hatpost and paneling construction. The shelter is fully insulated with foam-in insulation and has in-wall conduit and wiring. Two personnel entry doors with pullout steps are provided. The interior walls and ceiling are carpeted; flooring is rubberized safety tread tile. Unistrut channel is installed along the walls for equipment tiedown. Cable raceway, electrical outlets and receptacles, and fluorescent lighting are all provided. Interior furnishings include equipment racks on slides with writing tops and storage drawers; operator seating; refrigerator and microwave oven; storage cabinets; 2-drawer safe; fold-down and fixed work surfaces, and safety equipment. On the exterior EMI installed stabilizing jacks, roof deck with access ladder and fold-down safety rail system; belly storage boxes with cable ports; halogen work lighting, GFI outlets; and data/phone ports. Major equipment includes a 36,000 BTU air conditioning system; 20KW generator and hookup for shore power telescoping mast with air compressor; and removable hoist.

GPIV ORCA Van (Catalog #04000-038)
Contract Number: White Sands Missile Range, WSMR, NM; 3/03-2/04

The ORCA Van is constructed similarly to the Visor Van (see at GPIV Visor and Generator Trailer), also built under the GPIV program, except that ORCA has two slide-out walls. ORCA is the same size as Visor, but the two movable walls add approximately 72 inches to the overall interior width. The streetside wall slide-out section is 21.5 feet long; the curbside section is 16 feet long. No separate power trailer is provided with ORCA; two cable reels and storage for the safety handrails are mounted underneath the shelter.
