GPIV VISOR Van and Generator Trailer
(Catalog #04000-036)
Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 2/02 - 2/03

Under the GPIV contract, WSMR contracted with EMI to engineer and fabricate a 24-foot van with one extendable wall. EMI fabricated the van using aluminum C-panel construction. The movable wall can be operated either hydraulically or manually, and when fully extended, increases the width of the van by approximately three feet. A fold-down finished floor on the interior readies the extra space for use. A personnel door equipped with security hardware is installed curbside. All other components such as I/O panels and the movable wall are configured to prevent unauthorized entry from the exterior. Roof deck with access ladder and fold-down safety rails is installed. Two 3-ton air conditioning units are mounted over the vehicle cab. Belly boxes are mounted underneath for exterior storage. Three halogen lights provide exterior lighting. On the interior, walls are carpeted, and the ceiling is a drop ceiling with acoustical tile and recessed lighting. The floor is finished with raised computer tile. Furnishings include 70-inch high equipment racks on slides with plug strips, installed on the front and rear walls. On the curbside wall 26-inch high racks are topped with a laminate work surface. A customer-furnished safe is installed by the short racks. Water cooler is provided. A light blocking curtain by the doorway prevents light entry when entering and exiting the van. Safety equipment including smoke/CO detector, emergency light, and highway emergency kit are all provided. On a separate generator trailer EMI built an air conditioned equipment shelter for a UPS unit and installed solar panels on the roof. EMI installed customer-furnished UPS, generator, transfer switch and cable reel on the trailer.
