Advanced Time Space Positioning Van (ATS Array)

Contract: Edwards AFB, CA; 8/93 - 2/94

EMI designed and fabricated three instrumentation vans to support the Advanced Time Space Positioning Information (TSPI) System array at Edwards. EMI installed lighting and power distribution systems and other equipment in the shelters, including an on-board power generator, air conditioning, equipment racks, work tables, storage cabinets, and exterior storage boxes. EMI also purchased control electronic and other equipment to be used to upgrade existing outdated TSPI equipment to enhance real time capability and data reliability. Control equipment was interfaced by the customer.

 Video Tracking System (CSC-VTS) Van

Contract: Computer Sciences Corporation, Jolon, CA; 4/96 - 8/96

CSC required a Video Tracking System Van consisting of a prime mover and a 16-foot shelter. EMI purchased the truck and engineered and fabricated a shelter which is separable from the chassis and transportable in a C-130 aircraft. The shelter houses Kineto Tracking Mount control and data acquisition instrumentation. In addition, EMI provided and installed storage cabinets, work surfaces, equipment racks, operator chairs, writing boards, unistrut equipment tiedowns and safety equipment. On the exterior, EMI installed removable ECU units, a 35 KW generator and antenna mast. Forklift lifting points are provided in the perimeter tubing, and step assembly, roof ladder and gas bottle storage are provided on the rear. A second van added a rear view camera system and extra cabinetry.

 Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Response Vehicle

Contract: City of Las Cruces, NM; 8/99 - 8/00

EMI purchased and modified a tow vehicle and a 40-foot commercial gooseneck trailer.The tow vehicle is modified with a center control console, rear bumper and hitch, kingpin, and backup alarm. Emergency equipment includes siren, light bar system, headlights with wig-wag option, amplifier and exterior speakers. The trailer is modified with Holland hitch, stabilizer jacks and rear entry door with ramp. Also provided are interior and exterior wiring and lighting, gas-powered generator, air conditioning, and awning. The trailer is insulated and finished with white aluminum panels on walls and ceiling and non-slip aluminum treadplate on the floor. The trailer is partitioned into a front and rear compartment. Furnishings in the front compartment include two computer work desks, desk with drain and fume hood system, and operator seating. The gooseneck area contains enclosed storage cabinetry. The rear compartment contains open storage shelving.

 Visible MIR Van

White Sands Missile Range, NM, for Aberdeen Test Center, MD 3/02-11/02

Through an on-going contract at White Sands, Aberdeen contracted with EMI for an 18-foot long instrumentation shelter. EMI engineered and constructed the shelter, and interfaced it onto a customer-furnished vehicle. EMI provided all wiring, lighting, and I/O panels. Personnel door with pull-out step assembly is located on the rear wall. Air conditioning units are installed on the roof. Motor rewind cable reel is mounted under the shelter. The interior is finished with carpeted walls and ceiling and vinyl tile on the floor. EMI installed fold-down work surface with plug strip, filing cabinet, and professional tool chest. Three equipment racks on slides, each with UPS unit, are secured to the wall and floor. Writing top and operator chairs are provided for the racks. Hot/cold water dispenser, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and wood storage units are included. Unistrut channel is mounted on the wall for securing equipment. EMI provided a separate generator trailer with this van.
